He was also elected Vice President of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Chhatra Dal.
Beyond politics, he has established himself in the medical profession both at home and abroad, earning recognition for his contributions. At present, he serves as International Affairs Secretary of the central committee of Zia Parishad.
Dr. Shamim previously sought BNP’s nomination in the 1996 national polls and received a primary nomination in the 2018 election. His name is once again being prominently discussed within the party’s nomination race.
He has pledged firm commitment to the 31-point reform agenda announced by BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. Party insiders say his long experience, dedication, and “clean image” have earned him the confidence of BNP’s central leadership.
Local BNP supporters in Bagmara also view him as a strong candidate. Many believe his leadership could bring long-term positive change to the constituency, extending beyond the election itself.
