Dewan Foundation Stands by the Cold-Affected in Bagmara, Distributes 1,000 Blankets

Rajshahi: In memory of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, on his 90th birth anniversary, and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, the Dewan Foundation has extended a helping hand to the cold-stricken people of Bagmara, Rajshahi.

On Wednesday afternoon, January 14, around 450 people received blankets at the Jamalpur Eidgah field under Ganipur Union of Bagmara upazila. The remaining 550 blankets were distributed across different unions, completing a total of 1,000 blankets by Monday, January 19.
This humanitarian initiative was supported by Dr. Zahidun Nabi Dewan Shamim, Senior Scientist at the New York University School of Medicine, USA; International Affairs Secretary of Zia Parishad; and a proud son of Bagmara.

The event, organized by Dewan Foundation, was presided over by BNP leader A. Jalil and conducted by former Assistant Training Affairs Secretary of Rajshahi District BNP, Salauddin Shah.

Rajshahi District BNP former member and Executive Director of Dewan Foundation, Habibun Nabi Dewan (Shakil), attended the event as the chief guest.

Speakers at the event praised Dr. Zahidun Nabi Dewan Shamim’s humanitarian spirit, saying, “Even from abroad, he stands beside the people of Bagmara in their joys and sorrows. His initiative is truly exemplary.”
They also highlighted that since 2000, Dewan Foundation has been continuously working in education, health, and various social welfare sectors.

Executive Director Habibun Nabi Dewan (Shakil) said, “Serving humanity is our commitment. Such welfare activities will continue in the future as well.”

Among others present were Nazmul Islam, member of the Rajshahi District Volunteer Team; Mamunur Rashid, Joint Convener of the Bagmara Upazila Volunteer Team; and Raihan and Murad, Joint Conveners of the Mohonpur Government Degree College Student Team, along with leaders from various local political and social organizations.

The local residents expressed their gratitude after receiving the blankets and described the initiative as “a shining example of humanity and compassion.”
